ASA Direct Drive DDM160 Mount

The ASA DDM160 is the flagship of the ASA mount series. The 160mm thick mount and the direct drive motors with several hundred newton meters of torque make it one of the most stable telescope mounting platforms.

The ASA DirectDrive DDM160 is a column mounting system. The equatorial pier is designed for the customer location and specific telescope requirements. Observatory Solutions does the preliminary design and sends that information to ASA for final pier calculations.

In addition to the 300 kg (660 lb.) instrument capacity, the tracking accuracy is exceptional and can be compared with large, modern telescope systems of the meter class.

ASA Direct Drive DDM85 Mount

The ASA DDM85 is in use by dozens of astrophotographers. The accuracy of this mounting is so precise that, in most cases, tracking is not required. The run accuracy without autoguider correction over an hour, using PEM-PRO, shows peak to peak 0.68 arc seconds or 0.18 arc seconds RMS. The instrument configuration was ASA DDM85 with ASA 16N OK3.

The DDM85 comes in three versions:

The DDM85 Premium is mounted on a customer specific equatorial pier. The equatorial is specially designed for the location and allows a 360 degree swivel through. A meridian flip is therefore no longer necessary in this configuration.
