The Home-Dome HD10 model is a complete ten foot diameter fiberglass observatory for on-structure use. It includes four dome quadrants, rear cover, shutters, dome support ring, 12" high base ring, stainless steel assembly hardware, caulk, and instructions. The optional Rectangular Skirt (RS10) is a eight piece fiberglass skirt to make transition between the circular observatory and a flat/sloping roof or building edge. The horizontal flange of the RS10 fastens under a wall or base ring flange, while a vertical flange attaches to your structure. The optional Circular Skirt (CS10) is the same as RS10, except the four piece skirt ends in a 10' 8" diameter circle with drip flange.
Electric motors for shutter operation and rotation are available for all domes. All motors are 12 VDC and can be added at any time to the dome. For robotic operation, the Digital Dome Works (DDW) option provides a computer based automation system which allows you to open and close the shutter and control the dome azimuth so that it matches the telescope position.

Preassembly: The dome is completely constructed, with all accessories (except rectangular/circular skirts), and then put through a complete series of "working observatory" tests. When disassembled for crating, as many parts as possible are left in place and seams are carefully marked. Walls can be crated in "stacks" rather than individual ring sections. Observatory Solutions provides detailed reassembly instructions with the preassembly option.
Custom Exterior Colors: The dome exterior is color matched from a sample you provide. The color pigment is in the material and not a coating. Fire retardant can be added for additional protection in fire danger areas.
Rectangular Skirt: Eight piece fiberglass skirt to make transition between the circular observatory and a flat/sloping roof or building edge. The horizontal flange fastens under a wall or base ring flange, while a vertical flange attaches to your structure. The skirt slopes downward 4 inches to a drip flange.
Circular Skirt: Five piece fiberglass skirt to the make transition between the circular observatory and circular buildings, or to keep water away from the foundation. The horizontal flange of the circular skirt fastens over a wall.
Electric Shutter Drive: Electric Shutter Drive for the 10 foot domes, utilizing a 12vDC motors assembly with windlass shaft and stainless steel cables for opening and closing the shutter. Includes a "sliding contact" system for power transfer, all pulleys and hardware, and electrical power wires. Can be added at any time.
Electric Dome Drive: Electric Dome Drive for the 10 foot domes, utilizing two 12vDC motor assemblies. The system is "friction drive" with direct contact with the DSR underside. Includes two motor assemblies, all hardware, and electrical power wires (not shown). Can easily be added at any time.
Power Supply: A 12vDC 15A Power Supply with built-in key switch and two toggle switches for the ED10 Electric Dome Drive and ES10 Electric Shutter Drive. Comes in either 110vAC or 220vAC input. Inquire about special international plug configurations.
Digital Dome Works: A computer based automation system which allows you to open and close the shutter, and control the dome azimuth so that it matches the telescope position.
